The Center for Logistics, Trade and Transportation at The University of Southern Mississippi is now accepting registration for the 2014 Logistics, Trade, and Transportation (LTT) Symposium set for Feb. 26-27 on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach, Miss.

Sounds of the season will reverberate throughout the sanctuary at Main Street Baptist Church in Hattiesburg as The University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra presents its annual Holiday Choral Spectacular at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3 and Thursday, Dec. 5.

Ja’Marvae Lard, freshman vocal performance and music education double major, took home first place at the National Association of Teachers Singing Southern Region, an entity of the National Association of Teachers Singing (NATS).

How can emergency officials communicate effectively with the most at-risk populations on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast? That is the question two University of Southern Mississippi professors are working to answer. 

 

Assistant Professor Bandana Kar and Associate Professor Joby Bass, faculty members in the Department of Geography and Geology, are directing the project. Doctoral student Joslyn Zale of Sinking Spring, Pa. and master’s student James Dickens of West Monroe, La. are also supporting the project.

Dr. Robert M. Gates, who previously served as U.S. Secretary of Defense and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, will be the guest speaker for The University of Southern Mississippi’s Lt. Col. John H. Dale Sr. Distinguished Lecture Series in International Security and Global Policy on Thursday, Feb. 6 at the Saenger Theatre in downtown Hattiesburg.
