The University of Southern Mississippi Department of Dance will participate in the National Water Dance Project April 12, with an event scheduled for 3 p.m. on the Mississippi Gulf Coast at the intersection of U.S. Highway 49 and U.S. Highway 90 at the first dock.

The University of Southern Mississippi Department of Dance and Department of Theatre will present The Mystery of Other Lives April 3, 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. and on April 6 at 2 p.m. The 50-minute performance combines both dance and theatrical elements in a contemporary form. The performance will be held at 416 East Pine Street in downtown Hattiesburg.

Diane Halpern, dean of Social Sciences at the Minerva Schools at Keck Graduate Institute and the McElwee Family Professor of Psychology at Claremont McKenna College, will be the guest speaker for The University of Southern Mississippi’s 2014 Hildman Colloquium in Psychology.

Halpern will present "Knowns and Unknowns About Cognitive Sex Differences" Wednesday, April 9 at 2 p.m. in the Trent Lott Center, rooms 103A-D on the Hattiesburg campus. Admission is free and the public is invited.

The University of Southern Mississippi has selected 17 students earning their degrees from the Gulf Park campus for the 2013-2014 Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

The University of Southern Mississippi will host “Faith in the Age of Science: A Debate” featuring Dr. Michael Ruse of Florida State University and Dr. John Haught of Georgetown University as part of the university's Philosophical Fridays lecture series.

Made possible by the Fairchild Lecture Series, the debate is hosted by the Department of Philosophy and Religion in conjunction with the University Honors Forum, and will be held March 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the Trent Lott Center, Room 103 A-D. The public is invited to attend this free event.

For the fifth year in a row of great music and family fun, The University of Southern Mississippi will host its Jazz and Blues Festival Saturday, April 19, at the university’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. This year’s festival includes a second stage to feature more musical performances than ever before.

Mac Forsyth, a professor of practice in the Department of Finance, Real Estate and Business Law at The University of Southern Mississippi will be the featured guest for a live broadcast of the Mississippi Public Broadcasting radio program “In Legal Terms.”

The broadcast is set for Tuesday, March 25 at 10 a.m. in the Thad Cochran Center, room 210 on the Hattiesburg campus. Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend this free event.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Library presents the roundtable discussion, “Women of the Gulf Coast: A Historical Perspective,” on Tuesday, March 25, from 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in room 204 of the library on the university’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.
