Members of the Mississippi Gamma chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon at The University of Southern Mississippi traveled recently to Atlanta to attend the annual Carlson Leadership Academy (CLA) sponsored by their national fraternity. CLA is a two-day conference that consists of a variety of involved workshops and presentations from distinguished alumni.

For University of Southern Mississippi student Jeffrey George, this year’s Founders’ Day celebration will be especially significant, as he will take the oath of office as president of the school’s Student Government Association.

George, a sophomore from Covington, La. and other SGA executive officers elected this semester will be sworn in as part of the schedule of events on Thursday, March 27 that will mark the 104th anniversary of the university. Southern Miss was created by an act of the Mississippi Legislature in 1910, when it was first known as Mississippi Normal College.
