Dr. Frances Lucas, Vice President of the The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park Campus, was inducted into the Roland Weeks Leadership Hall of Fame Class of 2013 on Wednesday, April 23 as one of 10 top community leaders.

Carter, interim associate dean for the Gulf Coast operations of the College of Science and Technology, were awarded the 2014 Dean’s Cup presented by the Office of the Academic Dean at Southern Miss Gulf Coast.

Receiving its first Dean’s Cup recognition, the College of Science and Technology was presented the award based on overall student grade point average, student retention from the previous year to the current year and the college’s graduation rate. In recognition of outstanding student achievement, The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus hosted the 2014 Awards Day Ceremony in the Hardy Hall ballroom on the university’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

The University of Southern Mississippi Premedical and Health Professions Office, housed in the College of Science and Technology Dean’s Office, recently hosted faculty from the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Dental Hygiene program who presented information on the program to students.

As part of autism awareness month, the Institute for Disability Studies at the University of Southern Mississippi will hold a “Screening for Autism Day” in several cities throughout the State.

The Southern Miss Gulf Coast Civic Chorale will perform, “Groovy Peace, Baby!” at two concerts in the Fleming Education Center auditorium at The University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. The concerts will be held Friday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 4 at 3 p.m.

On Wednesday, April 23, mass communication professionals from across the state will visit with students from The University of Southern Mississippi’s School of Mass Communication and Journalism from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. for Mississippi Association of Broadcasters (MAB) Day. The event will be held in the Thad Cochran Center on the Hattiesburg campus.
