WHAT: The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Research Laboratory (GCRL) will release spotted seatrout fingerlings in Bay St. Louis— the first fish released in Bay St. Louis since the SPEC program began in 2005.

WHERE: Merlin Necais Boat Launch, Pass Christian, Miss.

WHEN: 12:30-1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12
SPECIFICS: The release is part of the Seatrout Population Enhancement Cooperative (SPEC), a partnership among GCRL, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources and the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) of Mississippi. Representatives of the Bay St. Louis chapter of CCA, who helped provide the broodstock from which the fingerlings were produced, will be available for interview.

Additionally, these fish are a result of the first season of production in GCRL’s new Marine Aquaculture Visitors’ Pavilion, located at its Cedar Point site in Ocean Springs, Miss.
