WHAT: The Southern Miss Steel Pan Orchestra will perform a free community concert.
WHERE: Advanced Education Center auditorium at The University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach
WHEN: 7 p.m. Thursday, April 22
SPECIFICS: Founded in 1994 by Dr. John Wooton, the Southern Miss Steel Pan Orchestra began as a six-piece ensemble including a drum set and percussion. The band, which now features 30 members, plays a variety of music including traditional calypso, classical, Cuban and jazz.
