Southern Miss Sets 2010 Preview Dates for New Students

New students who plan to attend The University of Southern Mississippi beginning in the summer and fall 2010 semesters, including freshmen and transfers, are encouraged to sign up for Preview, the university’s orientation program. Preview is coordinated by the Southern Miss Office of the First Year Experience (FYE).
During Preview, students can meet with the university’s faculty and staff, other new students, current students and with an academic program adviser, as well as schedule classes for the fall semester. Spaces for Preview are reserved on a first-respond, first reserved basis.
At Preview, students will also learn how to register for classes through SOAR, Southern Miss' online registration system; meet representatives from campus departments and student organizations; pre-order textbooks for classes; have their student identification card made; and set up a university email account.
Golden Eagle Welcome Weekend, set for Aug 14-17, is an annual tradition at the university that includes a fun-filled weekend giving new students the opportunity to connect with the university before fall classes begin. It includes a wide variety of recreational and educational activities, including the popular painting of Eagle Walk, pep rally and more.
The 2010 Preview schedule, including freshman and transfer sessions, is as follows:
• June 2-3: Freshmen
• June 21-22 – Freshmen
• June 24 – Transfers
• June 28-29: Freshmen
• July 1: Transfers
• July 8: Transfers
• July 12-13: Freshmen
• July 15: Transfers

• May 28: Last Call for summer 2010 Semester
• Aug. 12: Last call for fall 2010 semester (transfers)
• August 13: Last call for fall 2010 semester (freshmen)
