HATTIESBURG, Miss.  – The University of Southern Mississippi Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing student.

Steven Clay McGehee, 21, a freshman from Horn Lake, Miss. is a white male approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. The last known contact with McGehee was via text message in the early morning hours of Nov. 6. He was reported missing by his roommate.

“We’re reaching out to the public to help us find this young man,” said Southern Miss Police Chief Bob Hopkins. “Right now he is listed as a missing person at risk because, based on the evidence we’ve obtained, we believe he may do harm to himself.”

Investigators say McGehee could have travelled to either Horn Lake, located in Desoto County, or near Bruce, Miss., located in Calhoun County in North Mississippi. He drives a red 2001 Ford Escort with Desoto County, Miss. license plate DCP-744.

Anyone with information about McGehee or his whereabouts are asked to call Southern Miss Police at 601.266.4986 or their local law enforcement agency.
