Southern Miss to Host Welcome Week for Students at Gulf Park Campus PDF Print E-mail

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast will host its first ever Welcome Week for students Aug. 21 – 27 when students will have the opportunity to tour the campus, become involved in student activities and attend information sessions for online educational tools.

Welcome Week begins with the lecture “The History of Presidential Sex Scandals” presented by Dr. Robert Watson, associate professor of American Studies at Lynn University. The lecture will be presented in Holloway Complex A at the Gulf Park campus Aug. 21 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Students taking part in the Student Involvement Fair can visit with a variety of student organizations Aug. 24 and 26 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and Aug. 27 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

On Aug. 24 and 26, walking tours of the campus will be available all day beginning in the Advanced Education Center rotunda. Walking tours of the library will be available all day Aug. 25 and 27, starting on the first floor of the library.

Throughout the week, each of the university’s five academic colleges will host ice cream socials to allow students, faculty and staff to meet. Closing out the week, Southern Miss will host a cookout with Back Yard Burgers from 5 – 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27 in the Advanced Education Center.
