The University of Southern Mississippi is joining forces with the two major hospitals in the Hattiesburg area to make football season ticket buying more convenient for their employees.

On Thursday, July 29 members of the Southern Miss Athletic Department will be on hand to answer questions and take season ticket orders from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Wesley Medical Center cafeteria. The following day, a similar season ticket event will take place in the Forrest General Hospital cafeteria from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

“Having events of this type is a way to make it easier for community members to purchase season football tickets,” said Brian Morrison, coordinator of athletic sales at Southern Miss. “Instead of making them come to us, we are going to where they are.”

Head football coach Larry Fedora and the Southern Miss cheerleaders are scheduled to appear, along with representatives from the university’s athletic staff. Promotional material, including posters and calendars, will be available along with the ticket purchase promotion.

The Southern Miss Athletic Department has worked out an arrangement with both hospitals whereby employees can purchase tickets and have the cost deducted from their paychecks over a period of several months.

Last season Southern Miss sold 10,908 football season tickets. The Golden Eagles open the 2010 season on Sept. 2 at South Carolina in a nationally televised contest set for 6:30 p.m. Southern Miss will play its home opener on Sept. 9 against Prairie View in a 6 p.m. kickoff.
