William Rader Grantham, Former Southern Miss Dean of Students, Dies PDF Print E-mail

A memorial service is set for Saturday, May 8 at 3 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Hattiesburg for William Rader Grantham, 79, a former dean of students at The University of Southern Mississippi, who died May 4 at Hancock Medical Center. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

A native of Macon, Miss. and a Southern Miss alumnus, Grantham was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a recipient of the Purple Heart. In his 35-year career at the university he also served as dean of men and director of the university union.

Grantham was a prominent referee/official for football and basketball games at the high school, community and senior college levels, and was chosen as head referee and president of the Southeast Conference Referees Association.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; two sons, Ray C. Hubler and Mark Hubler; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Hubler and his parents, William F. and Thurston Rader Grantham.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to Hope Haven Children’s Services, P.O. Box 3777, Bay St Louis, MS 39521.
