Scholars from around the world who have conducted community resilience research following Hurricane Katrina will meet at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus in Long Beach June 4-5 for the conference, “Returning to Katrina: Bringing Hurricane Research Back to the Community.” The research summit, featuring scholars who conducted post-Katrina research, will share their findings with the Gulf Coast communities they once studied.

The conference, to be held in the Fleming Education Center, is sponsored by Southern Miss Gulf Coast in partnership with the Community and Regional Resilience Institute (CARRI) and the Center for Policy and Resilience (CPR). The university, along with CARRI and CPR, have worked together for more than two years to research and advocate resilience planning in the rebuilding process on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
