A trip to Las Vegas will be on the line for three lucky teams when the 7th annual Southern Miss Comcast Golf Classic tees off Saturday, Oct. 10 at Canebrake Golf Club in Hattiesburg.
The format is a two-person scramble. Entry fee is $125 per player which includes cart, greens fee, practice range balls, lunch, food coupons and gift bag. Prizes will be awarded for closest to the hole, longest drive and chipping and putting contests.
Patrons/sponsors receive complementary player slots. Tournament winners will be determined by low gross scores. The practice range opens at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
First through fourth place winners in each of the three divisions (student/student; faculty/staff and alumni/community) will be announced immediately after the event. Three division champions from the Classic will advance to the National Championships in Las Vegas set for Nov. 6-8. Thanks to a partnership with Hattiesburg Coca-Cola, three additional winning teams (one from each division) from the Monster Challenge will also qualify for the Las Vegas tournament.
Current high school, college or professional golfers are not eligible to compete.
Organizers of the Southern Miss Comcast Golf Classic seek to provide support for leadership training and professional development in the Division of Student Affairs as well as enhancing and financially supporting various scholarship opportunities.
