Southern Miss Gulf Coast Recognizes Outstanding Students, Who's Who at 2009 Awards Day PDF Print E-mail

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast hosted the first Awards Day recognition ceremony on Wednesday at the Advanced Education Center auditorium at the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

During the ceremony, the university recognized outstanding students in each of the five academic colleges, named the winner of the Susan Mallon Ross Award and the students selected for the 2008-2009 Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

The following students were recognized by their academic college as exceptional students:

• Susan Mallon Ross Award – Matthew Williams of Biloxi, master of arts in political science

• College of Arts and Letters Outstanding Senior – Terry Johnston of Ocean Springs, bachelor of arts in history

• College of Arts and Letters Outstanding Graduate – Justin Miller of Long Beach, master of arts in political science

• College of Business Outstanding Freshman – Jonathon Miller of Long Beach, bachelor of science in business administration in accounting

• College of Business Outstanding Senior – Ashleigh Conner of Gulfport, bachelor of science in business administration

• College of Business Outstanding Graduate – Elizabeth Calantoni of Diamondhead, master of business administration

• College of Education and Psychology Outstanding Freshman – Michael Rieger of Ocean Springs, bachelor of science in psychology

• College of Education and Psychology Outstanding Senior – Oki Ragins of Gulfport, bachelor of science in child and family studies

• College of Education and Psychology Outstanding Graduate – Jeanne Wagner of Bush, La., master of education in educational administration

• College of Health Outstanding Freshman – Gayla Evans of Gulfport, bachelor of science in pre-nursing

• College of Health Outstanding Senior – Marion Gibblets of Long Beach, bachelor of science in nursing

• College of Health Outstanding Graduate – Angelia Bone of Vancleave, master of social work

• College of Science and Technology Outstanding Freshman – Michael Lynn of Biloxi, bachelor of science in computer science

• College of Science and Technology Outstanding Senior – Alison Williams of Biloxi, bachelor of science in biological sciences

• College of Science and Technology Outstanding Graduate – John Kmiec of Biloxi, doctorate of human capital development

The following students were recognized as the 2008-2009 Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges:

• Evan Anderson of Ocean Springs, master of science in coastal sciences

• Anthony Bounds of Picayune, bachelor of arts in paralegal studies

• Elizabeth Calantoni of Diamondhead, master of business administration

• Renee Collins of Ocean Springs, bachelor of science in psychology

• Pascal Gill of Saucier, bachelor of science in business administration in accounting

• Teresa Hagwood of Saucier, bachelor of science in nursing

• Erin Hebert of Ocean Springs, bachelor of science in nursing

• Rachel Hernandez of Diamondhead, bachelor of science in biological sciences

• Dan Holiday of Gulfport, doctor of philosophy in coastal sciences

• Tenetta Holt of Ocean Springs, bachelor of science in community health sciences

• Tershara Matthews of Ocean Springs, doctor of philosophy in coastal sciences

• Jordan McCrary of Gulfport, bachelor of arts in English

• Michelle Richmond of Gautier, doctor of philosophy in education

• Aaron Rosetti of Gulfport, bachelor of science in nursing
