Forestry professor to speak at EcoEagle Lecture Series

WHERE: Room A of the R.C. Cook Union building
EVENT: Dr. Glenn Hughes, extension forestry professor for the Mississippi State University Extension Service will lecture on the title, “Impact of Sustainable Forestry Practices on Mississippi’s Forest Economy.” For information call 601-266-5687.


Young to make colloquium presentation

WHERE: Room 103 of the Liberal Arts building
EVENT: Dr. Amy Young, professor of Anthropology, will deliver a presentation during the Anthropology/Sociology Research Colloquium titled, “Resistance and Revolt on Antebellum Plantations.” For information call 601-266-6823.


H.U.B. City Steps program to hold reception
: 5:30 p.m.
WHERE: Cultural Center in downtown Hattiesburg
EVENT: Kickoff event to begin the walking intervention phase of the $2 million federally funded program that is a collaboration between Southern Miss and the City of Hattiesburg. For information call 601-266-5091.

Fleming press conference scheduled
: 11 a.m.
WHERE: Garden Room of the Fairview Inn in Jackson

Authority on No Child Left Behind Act to give lecture

WHERE: Advanced Education Center auditorium on Gulf Park campus

WHERE: Holloway Complex Room A at the Gulf Park campus
EVENT: Gary Marchand, president and CEO of Memorial Hospital in Gulfport will present the lecture, “Healthcare Reform – How Did We Get There.” For information call 228-865-4573.


Opera star Fleming to perform with Southern Miss orchestra
: 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Thalia Mara Hall in downtown Jackson
EVENT: Internationally acclaimed soprano Renee Fleming will perform with the Southern Miss Symphony Orchestra as the opening event of the university’s yearlong Centennial celebration. For information call 601-266-6823.
