Industrial Audiometry and Hearing Course Set for Aug. 10-12 PDF Print E-mail

The Office of Professional Development and Educational Outreach at The University of Southern Mississippi will conduct the Industrial Audiometry and Hearing Conservation Certification Course Aug. 10-12 on the Hattiesburg campus.

The certification course will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Aug. 10-11 and from 8 a.m. to noon on Aug. 12. Recertification portion of the course will be held on Aug. 11.

The course meets the requirements for the Council of Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC). The course also provides training for industrial nurses, safety engineers, occupational health and safety officers and other personnel responsible for initiating and overseeing programs to comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations applicable to noise and subsequent hearing loss.

Topics to be covered include the following:
 Introduction to Audiometry
 Medical-legal aspects of hearing conservation
 Sound/noise measurement
 Anatomy and physiology of hearing conservation
 Ear protection

The certification course fee is $600 and the fee for recertification is $325. Fees include materials and CAOHC certification fees. There is a $25 late fee for registrations received after July 30.
