ONGOING EVENTS
The sounds, sights and flavors of the world will be celebrated Nov. 12-16 with a variety of activities at The University of Southern Mississippi’s International Education Week in Hattiesburg. Related events are listed below.

TUESDAY, NOV. 13
International Education Week: International Food Fair

Time: 11 a.m.–1 p.m.  Location: Baptist Student Union
The popular International Food Fair, traditionally a spring event, will feature food prepared by Southern Miss international exchange students from around the world will be available free of charge, but donations will be accepted.

Children’s Center for Communication and Development Check Presentation
Time: 6 p.m.  Location: Children’s Center for Communication and Development
The Children’s Center for Communication and Development will be presented with a check for $1,500 for the Rebekah Elizabeth Harrison Endowment Fund. 

University Forum Lecture: Editorial Cartoonist Marshall Ramsey
Time: 6:30 p.m.  Location: Bennett Auditorium
Marshall Ramsey, an editorial cartoonist for the Clarion-Ledger newspaper, will be the featured speaker in this University Forum lecture. Ramsey is a two-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. His work has also appeared in USA Today and The New York Times, among other major newspapers.

Lecture: “Fighting the Great War: A Global History”
Time: 6:30 p.m.  Location: Library of Hattiesburg, Petal and Forrest County
The University of Southern Mississippi Center for the Study of War and Society will continue its series of roundtables with this presentation by Michael Neiberg, professor of history at Southern Miss, who will discuss his book “Fighting the Great War: A Global History.”

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 14
GIS Day

Time:  9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.   Location: Advanced Education Center, Gulf Park Campus, Long Beach
The Department of Geography at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast and the Mississippi Association of Spatial Technology will host the third annual GIS Day for area high school students. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a geography bowl. Five students from each class will compete against other high school teams to win awards. Call 228.865.4573.

International Education Week: Entertainment
Time: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.  Location: R.C. Cook University Union
A variety of international cultural entertainment will be on display at the R.C. Cook University Union, including music and dancing.

THURSDAY, NOV. 15
Lecture: "From Soviet to State-Sponsored Healthcare: Healthcare Delivery in Armenia and Ukraine Today”

Time: 3:30-4:45 p.m.  Location: Union Rooms B and C
Dr. S. Robert Hernandez, professor from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, presents "From Soviet to State-Sponsored Healthcare: Healthcare Delivery in Armenia and Ukraine Today” during The University of Southern Mississippi’s College of Health 2007-08 Scholars Series.

International Education Week: Entertainment
Time: 9 a.m.–3 p.m.   Location: R.C. Cook Union
Information about Southern Miss’s popular study abroad and exchange programs will be available at the R.C. Cook Union, along with fun activities such as the Global IQ Quiz and the student photo contest. In addition, Southern Miss students, faculty or staff who don't currently hold a passport or whose passport needs renewing, can have their passport photo taken by representatives of the U.S. Post Office, who will be on hand to assist with passport applications.

FRIDAY, NOV. 16
Southern Miss-Chesterfield’s Golf Tournament Benefit
Time: 12:30 p.m.  Location Shadow Ridge Golf Course, Hattiesburg
Proceeds raised through the second annual Southern Miss Chesterfield's Golf Classic will benefit the Sports Management Scholarship Fund for students in Southern Miss Department of Human Performance and Recreation. For more information, call Dr. Dan Drane at 601.266.5379.
