The University of Southern Mississippi’s campus radio station, WUSM-FM, 88.5, will hold a pledge drive Oct. 4-10 from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. in support of the station.
WUSM is listener-supported public radio and depends on contributions from community supporters for production of quality programming. Listeners may pledge online anytime at http://www.usm.edu/wusm or by phone at 601.266.4604 during the drive.
“Listener support is important for any public radio station, but especially for community-based public radio like WUSM,” says Lou Ellen Williams, WUSM advancement manager. “WUSM is unique, and features programming specifically for the Pine Belt area.”
WUSM has also increased locally produced programming in the last month, including a new program titled “As a Matter of Faith,” hosted by Southern Miss professor Allan Eickelmann. This program presents discussions of significant and current matters of religious interests with a variety of religious scholars and leaders.
“As a Matter of Faith” is produced in the studios of WUSM, with support from the College of Arts and Letters, the School of Mass Communication and Journalism, and the Department of Philosophy and Religion.
