The following events are being held at various locations in Hattiesburg and present both interview and photo opportunities for the media. You may also want to include some of these in your community or entertainment calendars. TUESDAY, MARCH 30

Southern Miss presents Founder’s Day festivities
WHEN
: Events beginning at 8:15 a.m.
WHERE: Various sites on campus.
EVENT: The annual Founder’s Day activities begin with a vintage Coca-Cola truck making a delivery at 8:15 a.m. at the new Gateway entrance. The Gateway dedication ceremony is set for 10:30 a.m. with convocation scheduled for 2:30 p.m. For information call 601-266-4499.

Professor to discuss female athletes
WHEN
: 12:15-1:15 p.m.
WHERE: Room 213 of Cook Library.
EVENT: Dr. Karen Hostettler, assistant professor of human performance and recreation, will present, “The Development of the Female Athlete Triad Risk Scale.” For information call 601-266-5386.

Katrina Research Center hosts exhibit
WHEN
: 5:30 p.m.
WHERE: Katrina Research Center, Library, Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.
EVENT: The center presents, “Haiku and Essays: Word Pictures of Moments in Time” by Frank Smith. The exhibit will open with a community reception. For information call 228-214-3423.

Brown Bag Lecture Series continues
WHEN
: 12:15-1:15 p.m.
WHERE: Room 123 of Cook Library.
EVENT: Dr. Ruth Percy, visiting professor of history at Southern Miss, will present “Proud, Black and Beautiful: Post-Civil Rights Organizing in the Mississippi Delta” as part of the Brown Bag Lecture Series. For information call 601-266-4086.

SATURDAY, APRIL 3

Easter egg hunt, festival scheduled at Gulf Park
WHEN
: 11 a.m.-until
WHERE: Gulf Park campus in Long Beach
EVENT: An Easter egg hunt and photos with the Easter Bunny will take place at the Southern Miss Jazz and Blues Festival. For information call 228-865-4573.

Student Art Show on display
WHEN
: Through April 9
WHERE: Museum of Art on Hattiesburg campus
EVENT: The juried exhibit includes a selection of artworks created by art and design majors in various media – including painting, sculpture, packaging, typography, illustration and sculpture. For information call 601-266-6823.

NOTICE:

Campus offices, classes closed on Friday
EVENT
: All university offices will be closed and classes will be dismissed on Friday, April 2 as part of the Easter holiday.
