WHAT: Media preview tour of the Trent Lott National Center for Excellence in Economic Development and Entrepreneurship
WHERE: The rotunda of the Trent Lott Center. The building is located on the Hattiesburg campus next to M.M. Roberts Stadium on Championship Lane, just north of the Hwy. 49 and Hardy St. intersection.
WHEN: 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2010
SPECIFICS: The Office of University Communications at The University of Southern Mississippi will host members of the media for a preview tour of the newly completed Trent Lott National Center for Excellence in Economic Development and Entrepreneurship.
Media will have the opportunity to get perspectives from several key leaders who have been involved in the project, including Southern Miss President Martha Saunders and Chad Driskell, assistant to the president for External Affairs. Media will also have photo and video opportunities in the building.
The 53,000-square-foot, three-story building embodies the Greek Revival architecture style. The first floor includes classrooms, meeting rooms and a catering kitchen for events. The second floor houses the offices of the Center’s director, the Department of Economic and Workforce Development, the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security and the Center for Logistics, Trade and Transportation. The third floor is home to the offices of University Advancement.
The building will be formally dedicated during special ceremonies at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010. The building’s namesake, the Hon. Trent Lott, will be the honored guest along with state and local dignitaries, including Mississippi’s Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant.
