Media Advisory: Southern Miss to Host Ribbon Cutting for New Technology Learning Center Facilities PDF Print E-mail

WHAT: The University of Southern Mississippi and the Institute for Disability Studies will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the new Technology Learning Center (TLC) facilities at the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. The new TLC building was constructed with a $1.6 million sub-grant from the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services in cooperation with the governorís office.

WHERE: TLC building at the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach (west of the tennis courts)

WHEN: 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12

SPECIFICS: In addition to providing Southern Miss teacher education students with hands-on experience with state-of-the-art assistive technology equipment, the TLC provides children and adults in the community with services and opportunities to borrow expensive equipment that improves quality of life. The TLC also consults schools for assistive technology solutions for students with disabilities. The services available through the TLC have been expanded statewide.
