Lasheika M. Dinkins of Memphis, Tenn., a senior fashion merchandising major at The University of Southern Mississippi, received her second lieutenant commission into the U.S. Army on Dec. 10 after successfully completing the university’s Army Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) program.
Dinkins was sworn in at a special ceremony held at the ROTC department headquarters in the George Hurst Building on the university’s Hattiesburg campus. Following completion of her officer basic course at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., she will serve in the engineering reserves in her first assignment in Longare, Italy.
Dinkins is the daughter of Leroy Dinkins Jr. and Tara Linese Dinkins.
