Local businessman and community leader Keith Saucier has been named grand marshal for the 24th annual Southern Miss Coca-Cola Classic Rodeo.
A native of Hattiesburg, Saucier began his career in petroleum at 13. After continuing to work in all phases of the petroleum industry, he built his first convenience store in 1996. Today there are 28 Keith’s Super Stores in Mississippi and Louisiana. Saucier is also president-elect for the Mississippi Petroleum Marketers Convenience Stores Association.
The rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13-14 at the James Lynn Cartlidge Forrest County Multi Purpose Center on U.S. Highway 49 South in Hattiesburg, Miss. Tickets are $10 and available at Boot Country on U.S. Highway 49 in Hattiesburg beginning Jan. 12.
During his school days, Saucier became involved with the Future Farmers of America (FFA), which led to his love of farming and raising animals. He now raises large horses such as Percheron, miniature horses and other farm animals.
Saucier gives back to the community by sharing his animals and driving his stage coach and numerous wagons in parades and local events. He takes his animals to local churches, schools and special needs facilities such as the Association of Retard Citizens (ARC) and Children’s Center for Communication and Development at Southern Miss.
Saucier and his wife Lori have been married 16 years. They have three children, Brent, 9, and Ruslan and Julia, 5. They are all active in the Junior Livestock Association and members of Providence Baptist Church.
