The following events are being held at various locations in Hattiesburg and present both interview and photo opportunities for the media. Kickoff party begins Homecoming Week
: 5-6 p.m.
WHERE: The District on Hattiesburg campus
EVENT: Relay races, music, food and refreshments to usher in Homecoming Week. For information call 601-266-4407


“Paint Southern Miss Pink” ceremony set
: Noon-1 p.m.
WHERE: Student Activities Hub on Hattiesburg campus
EVENT: Part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer survivors will be honored and winners announced for various contests held in conjunction with campus-wide effort. For information call 601-266-5655..

Sorority sponsoring “Trash Fat Talk” event
: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
WHERE: Shoemaker Square on Hattiesburg campus
EVENT: Part of national “Fat Talk Free Week.” Event involves students writing an individual body image concern on a slip of paper, crumpling it and throwing it into a trash can. For information call 760-415-9310.

Students team up for annual “Fountain Sit”
: Begins at 10 a.m. Goes all day.
WHERE: Shoemaker Square on Hattiesburg campus
EVENT: Part of Homecoming festivities. Students will take turns to see how long they can sit in the fountain. For information call 601-266-4407.

Fulton to discuss opera; two performances set
: 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Mannoni Performing Arts Center
EVENT: Noted opera authority William Fulton will give a pre-show talk titled, “The World of Opera, followed by double-bill of two classic operas by the Southern Miss Southern Opera and Musical Theatre. For information call 601-266-5418.

School of Music presents Wind Ensemble Concert

Mississippi Library Association conference on tap

Miss or Mister Varsity Pageant planned
: 7-9 p.m.
WHERE: Bennett Auditorium

Students pitch in to beautify Southern Miss campus
8 a.m.-8 p.m.
WHERE: All over Hattiesburg campus
EVENT: Part of Homecoming festivities. Students will participate in campus-wide cleanup and beautification effort. For information call 601-266-4407.

Eagle Hop” contest features skits, routines
: 5 p.m.
WHERE: Middle of Weathersby Lawn
EVENT: Part of Homecoming festivities. Students will perform as teams in a 2-minute routine during the contest. For information call 601-266-4407.

Healthcare Marketing Industry Day set
: 9 a.m.-Noon.
WHERE: Lobby of Joseph Greene Hall
EVENT: Opportunity for students to visit with representatives from a number of healthcare-related companies. For information call 601-266-4350.

Gianni Schicchi and Pagliacci operas continue
: 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Mannoni Performing Arts Center

Alumni Hall of Fame set to induct Seven
: 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: Southern Oaks and Garden Restaurant
EVENT: Southern Miss Alumni Association will honor seven new inductees as part of Homecoming festivities. For information call 601-266-5013.

Friday Night at the Fountain continues
: 7-10 p.m.
WHERE: Fountain in front of the Aubrey K. Lucas Administration Building
EVENT: Pep rally held in conjunction with Saturday’s homecoming football game against the Tulane Green Wave. Homecoming Court will be presented and live entertainment will be provided. For information call 601-266-4407.


Homecoming parade begins at University Mall
: Noon
WHERE: University Mall toward Southern Miss campus
EVENT: Annual parade begins at University Mall and travels east down Hardy Street to campus. Bobby L. Chain will serve as grand marshal. For more information call 601-266-4407.

Golden Eagles host Tulane in Homecoming game
: 6 p.m.
WHERE: M.M. Roberts Stadium
EVENT: The Golden Eagles take on the Tulane Green Wave in the annual Homecoming game. For more information call 601-266-4503.
