National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security Partners with Raytheon PDF Print E-mail

Technology and innovation giant Raytheon has become the newest partner in providing services that will assist the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) at The University of Southern Mississippi in crisis awareness, testing and preparedness.

NCS4 Director Dr. Lou Marciani pointed out that Raytheon provides capabilities and software solutions that are best-suited for the future specific sport security requirements. He notes that Raytheon brings leading-edge technology and expertise that will enhance the National Center’s ongoing initiatives.

“We are very fortunate to have Raytheon join the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security’s founding partner consortium,” said Marciani. “As an academic leader in researching, developing and integrating comprehensive technology and service-based solutions, Raytheon’s unparalleled expertise provides our staff and partners the potential for the best-integrated solutions in protecting critical infrastructures, specifically sport venues.”

Established in 2006, The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security was created to provide an interdisciplinary academic environment to further increase sport security awareness; improve sport security policies and procedures and enhance emergency response through evacuation, recovery operations and crowd management training.

“We are pleased to partner with NCS4 in its efforts to enhance the safety and security for sporting venues worldwide,” said Lee Silvestre, vice president of Mission Innovation for Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems. “This partnership is an opportunity to pair our expertise in command and control systems and mission support with the expertise of NCS4 to provide solutions that address the current and future needs of the industry.”
