Southern Miss Gulf Coast to Host Jazz and Blues Festival, Easter Egg Hunt April 3 PDF Print E-mail

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast will host the Southern Miss Jazz and Blues Festival Saturday, April 3 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on the front lawn of the university’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. The event is free and open to the public.

The musical acts to perform at the festival are the Steve Warren Band, Swampnoise, the Jerry Ball Jazz and Blues Quintet and Southern Miss Jazz Sextet+1. In addition to the musical performances will be an Easter egg hunt for children ages 12 and under. Children can also have their photo taken with the Easter Bunny from 10 a.m. – noon.

The Shed BBQ and Blues Joint Highway 53, Ziggy’s and Port City Café are among a variety of food and drink vendors to take part at the festival. Arts and crafts vendors, along with free children’s’ activities, will be set up throughout the festival grounds.

Southern Miss Jazz Sextet+1 will kick off the festival at 10:30 a.m. The Jerry Ball Jazz and Blues Quintet will perform at 12:30 p.m. and Swampnoise at 2:30 p.m. The Gulf Coast’s own Steve Warren Band, which performs a funky blues-rock style of music, will perform at 4:30 p.m.

The festival is sponsored by Magic 93.7 FM, the city of Long Beach, Lamar Advertising and WLOX-TV. Proceeds will be used to further develop the Southern Miss Gulf Coast Student Government Association.
