Economists will share their insights and predictions for 2008 at The University of Southern Mississippi’s first Economic Outlook Conference. The event is presented by the College of Business’s Bureau of Business and Economic Research and sponsored by The First, a National Banking Association.

The conference will cover the 2008 economic forecast as well as provide updates on the post-Katrina recovery efforts along the Coast.

The schedule is as follows
8:30 – 9 a.m. -- Registration
9 - 9:15 a.m.
Welcome by Dr. Alvin Williams, interim dean, College of Business

9:15 – 10 a.m.
The Economic Outlook for Mississippi -- Dr. Darrin M. Webb, senior economist, Center for Policy Research and Planning, Mississippi Institutions for Higher Learning

10 – 10:45 a.m.
The Economic Outlook for South Mississippi -- Dr. William Gunther, professor of economics and director of the Southern Miss Bureau of Business and Economic Research

10:45 – 11 a.m. -- Coffee Break
11 – 11:45 a.m.
The Katrina Impact and Post-Katrina Recovery on the South Mississippi Economy, Dr. Ed Ranck, associate director, Bureau of Business and Economic Research

12 – 1:30 p.m. -- Lunch
The U.S. Economic Outlook -- Dr. Thomas J. Cunningham, vice president and associate director of research, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta
