The University of Southern Mississippi Office of Advancement has named Josh Hernandez its new director of corporate and foundation relations.

Hernandez, who previously served the university as assistant director of annual giving, will be responsible for identifying and enhancing strategic partnership opportunities with corporations and private foundations in his new position.

“We’re pleased to welcome Josh to his new role with the development team,” said Aaron Vold, assistant vice president of development. “In his previous role as assistant director of annual giving, Josh displayed exceptional ability, and we are confident he will be successful in this new role as well.”

Before joining the staff at Southern Miss, Hernandez was director of annual giving at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. In his final year at TLU, he led the university’s annual giving program in raising more than $800,000. He also worked to secure funding from private foundations as a grant writer with TLU.

Hernandez holds a bachelor’s degree in English and literature and a master’s degree in composition and rhetoric from North Dakota State University.

“I am impressed and excited that our Office of Advancement continues to build an excellent team,” said Dr. David Wolf, vice president for advancement. “Josh’s role will be crucial in developing gifts with private and corporate foundations.”

The Office of Advancement at The University of Southern Mississippi incorporates the three external arms of the university including the departments of marketing and public relations, development and alumni affairs. For more information, call 601.266.5602.
