WHAT: Project WetKids is hosting the second summer of ‘Camp Leonardo: Where Science Meets Art’ with Mississippi Gulf Coast students in grades 3 – 5.

WHERE: Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center, Ocean Springs

WHEN: Thursday, July 14. The students will be separated into groups and rotate through 45-minute art and science sessions between 11:20 a.m. – 3:25 p.m.

SPECIFICS: Each morning, students learn about wetlands and the habitats of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. In the afternoon, students incorporate the science and beauty of nature into art projects while painting, constructing habitat boxes, designing stencils, creating fish prints, developing wetland models and carving three-dimensional clay creations.

Project WetKids, created through a partnership with the National Science Foundation, The University of Southern Mississippi and the Gulf of Mexico Alliance, provides students and families on the Mississippi Gulf Coast the opportunity to meet with regional scientists, engineers and naturalists to learn more about the local wetland, estuary and watershed.
