Southern Miss Gulf Coast to Support United Way Food Drive PDF Print E-mail

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast has partnered with United Way of South Mississippi for their Day of Action Monday, June 21 which kicks off a week of food collection. The food will be delivered to local pantries assisting with oil spill relief efforts.

Community members may donate non-perishable food items at various Southern Miss Gulf Coast locations, including at the library and the Fleming Education Center rotunda on the Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach, and at the university’s Department of Student Services in North Complex A of the Gulf Coast Student Service Center in Gulfport.

Southern Miss Gulf Coast will deliver the food to Gulf Coast Community Ministries, located near Milner Stadium in Gulfport, and then report the amount of donated food to United Way. Suggested items include cereal, powdered milk, dried beans, rice, canned fruit, canned meat, tuna helper, hamburger helper, spaghetti and spaghetti sauce.
