Renowned DUI speaker to make appearance on campus

EVENT: Mark Sterner shares his powerful story about the dangers of drinking and driving. Sterner was behind the wheel in a 1994 traffic accident that killed three of his fraternity brothers. EVENT: Southern Miss head football coach Larry Fedora will update fans on the team’s preseason workouts and answer their questions at the Alumni House Sports Grille, as well as those who call in to the radio broadcast on WXRR-FM (104.5).

Golden Eagles open 2009 football season at home

EVENT: The Southern Miss Golden Eagles host the Alcorn State Braves in the season opener for both teams and first meeting between the two schools on the gridiron. A variety of other activities will be held in conjunction with the game, including the following:

• Junior Eagle Funland – 3-5:30 p.m. at Pride Field
• Black Daggars parachuting in with game ball
• Family of Steve McNair recognized during the coin toss
