WHAT: The Sun Herald and The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast present the Issues + Answers Lecture “Ecosystem at Risk? Implications of the Deepwater Horizon Incident on the Ecology of the North Central Gulf of Mexico,” featuring a panel of experts from the Southern Miss Gulf Coast Research Laboratory.

WHERE: Theatre of the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Center at 1600 Government Street in Ocean Springs

WHEN: Thursday, July 29 at 7 p.m.

SPECIFICS: The panel will feature Dr. Bill Hawkins, moderator; Harriet Perry on crustacean and shellfish life cycles; Jim Franks on finfish stocks; Dr. Joe Griffitt on aquatic toxicology; Dr. Jay Grimes on biomediation; and Dr. Mark Peterson on the coastal marsh habitat. Following the panel discussion, the experts will be available for a question-and-answer session to address questions on how the Deepwater Horizon incident has impacted the biology of the North Central Gulf, how it works and the implications of this incident.
