TO: News Editors, Directors WHAT: Mississippi Sen. Roger Wicker, his wife, Gail, and aide Scott Walker, will visit The University of Southern Mississippi Campus. Media are invited to attend for photo and interview opportunities. WHEN: Monday, Feb. 4, 10 a.m. WHERE: Shelby Thames Polymer Research Center, Hattiesburg campus SPECIFICS: Following a 9 a.m. meeting with President Martha Saunders and cabinet members, Dr. Cecil Burge, vice president for Research and Economic Development, will take Sen. Wicker on a tour of the Southern Miss School of Polymers and High Performance Materials at 10 a.m. Former President Dr. Shelby Thames and other faculty members will brief the senator on work being done on an $8 million Department of Defense marine composite project underway at the university. Sen. Wicker, formerly the First District U.S. Representative, was appointed by Gov. Haley Barbour in December to fill the senate seat vacated by Trent Lott.
