WHAT: Southern Miss fall 2009 commencement ceremonies
WHEN: Friday, Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
WHERE: Reed Green Coliseum, located next to the Payne Center on the Hattiesburg campus
DETAILS: More than 1,300 students will be candidates for undergraduate, graduate and specialist’s degrees Friday at Southern Miss in two separate ceremonies, with the 10 a.m. commencement featuring graduates from the Colleges of Arts and Letters, Health, Honors and University Libraries. The 3 p.m. commencement will include graduates of the Colleges of Business, Education and Psychology, Science and Technology, Honors and University Libraries. Among the candidates, 1,120 are from the Hattiesburg campus while 222 are from the Gulf Coast campus and teaching sites.
Anthony J. Topazi, president and CEO of Mississippi Power since 2004, will give the commencement address at both ceremonies. Topazi previously worked with Alabama Power where he held numerous executive positions and played a key role in recruiting the first Mercedes Benz automotive assembly plant outside of Germany to the state of Alabama. He serves on the boards of directors of the Hancock Bank Holding Company and Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta – New Orleans branch.
