The following events are being held at various locations in Hattiesburg and present both interview and photo opportunities for the media. Passions of the Palette Event scheduled
WHEN
: 5:30 p.m.
WHERE: Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg
EVENT: Sixth annual event sponsored the Department of Casino, Hotel and Tourism Management. Tasting dinner and silent auction planned. For information call 601-266-5418.

TUESDAY, APRIL 13

War and Society Roundtable discussion set
WHEN:
6:30 p.m.
WHERE: Library of Hattiesburg, Petal and Forrest County.
EVENT: Monthly roundtable discussion will focus on book titled, “A Soldier’s Letters to Charming Nellie: The Correspondence of Joseph B. Polley, Hood’s Texas Brigade.” This is a collection of letters by a Confederate soldier originally published in 1908. For information call 601-584-3166.

Noted English professor to deliver lecture
WHEN
: 5 p.m.
WHERE: Gonzales Auditorium at Southern Miss
EVENT: Mississippi State University professor and former Southern Miss professor Noel Polk will present a lecture titled, “Living Outside History.” Polk is an internationally known scholar of William Faulkner. For information call 601-266-4533.

THURSDAY, APRIL 15

Childhood Obesity main topic of Health Fair
WHEN
: All day for fair event. Lecture at 7 p.m.
WHERE: Gulf Park campus; lecture at Advanced Education Center auditorium
EVENT: Several demonstrations are planned in conjunction with Health Fair. The Issues + Answers lecture is titled, “Childhood Obesity: Defining the Problem Through Population Research,” presented by Dr. Ronald Crossman. For information call 228-865-4573.

THURSDAY-SUNDAY, APRIL 15-18

Spring Dance Concert scheduled
WHEN
: 7:30 p.m. April 15-17 and 1 p.m. on April 18.
WHERE: Mannoni Performing Arts Center
EVENT: The Southern Miss Repertory Dance Company will present its annual concert showcasing new choreographic works by faculty, students and recent guest artist Christal Brown of INSPIRIT, a dance company. For information call 601-266-6823.

SATURDAY, APRIL 17

Undergraduate Research Conference planned
WHEN
: 8 am.-1 p.m.
WHERE: Liberal Arts Building
EVENT: Undergraduate students will present their research from several different fields of study including Mass Communications and Journalism, English, History, Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science and Philosophy. For information call 601-266-6823.
