Because of a forecast of inclement winter weather, University of Southern Mississippi dining services will close this evening, Thursday, Feb. 11 at 8 p.m. on university's Hattiesburg campus and reopen Friday on a limited basis for students who live on campus. The university will be closed in Hattiesburg and on the Gulf Coast Friday because of weather conditions, and this evening's classes are cancelled.

Fresh Food Company in the Thad Cochran Center will re-open Friday 8 a.m. and remain open until 8 p.m. The main entrance and Scott Hall entrance of the Thad Cochran Center will be open to access the Fresh Food Company. Fresh Food Company will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7. A Stone’s Throw, located in The Quad, will be open from 6-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, weather permitting.

The Payne Center, the Union Complex, including the Thad Cochran Center, and Barnes & Noble bookstore will close at 8 p.m. today and re-open Sunday.

Student Health Services will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Residents are advised to fill all necessary prescription medications.

The University Police Department (UPD) encourages all campus residents to avoid driving during the storm as roads are expected to be icy and dangerous during this weather event. UPD may impose a curfew if a state of emergency is declared by the university.

Residents should park their cars away from trees and power lines that may fall under the weight of snow. Use caution when entering buildings as floors may be slippery.
