Nonprofit organizations and other grant seekers on the Mississippi Gulf Coast looking for funding sources now have access to a valuable new collection of resources at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Library, which has become a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center of New York.
The library, located at the university’s Gulf Park campus in Long Beach, will host an open house Tuesday, June 1 from 2 – 4 p.m. on the second floor. The community is invited to attend the open house, which will feature demonstrations of the databases.
Cooperating Collections provides under-resourced and underserved populations in need of vital information and training with tools they can use to become successful grant seekers. At locations throughout the U.S., Cooperating Collections offers free access to the center’s detailed information on grant makers and how to apply for grants. The library will also host training sessions on how to effectively use these resources and identify potential funders.
“The collection includes print materials and access to two online databases,” said information services librarian Eric Speas. “These resources are available to anyone in the general public who is searching for grant funding, whether it is for a religious organization, a community group, students, artists or researchers.”
Established in 1956, the Foundation Center is the nation’s leading authority on organized philanthropy, serving grant seekers, grant makers, researchers, policymakers, the media and the general public. The public is served through the center’s five regional learning centers and the national network of Cooperating Collections.
