HATTIESBURG -- Oboe professor Patricia Malone of the School of Music at The University of Southern Mississippi will present a faculty recital at 7 p.m. April 15 in Marsh Auditorium. Her "Tax Day" program will boast several works by renowned composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach, Brazilian composer João Gilherme Riper, Franz Schubert, and Tim Grundmann. Fellow faculty members will join Malone for the evening of chamber music, including Dana Ragsdale on harpsichord, Lois Leventhal on piano, Sharon Lebsack on flute, and Wilbur Moreland on clarinet. Guest collaborators will be Rebekah Stark Johnson on cello and Miroslav Loncar on guitar. The recital is free to the public. For more information, call (601) 266-6945.



HATTIESBURG -- The Southern Chorale, the premiere touring choral ensemble at The University of Southern Mississippi, will present its spring concert April 15 at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church. Under the direction of Dr. Gregory Fuller, the concert program will feature music written by Southern Miss student composers Frank Pesci, a senior jazz studies major, and J. D. Frizzell, a junior music history major. Assisting Fuller on the podium will be graduate conductors Mary Thrash, Jon Tyner and Amon Eady. Also included on the program will be a set of pieces by Howard Helvey and Eric Whitacre.
