SEMINAR IN ARSON INVESTIGATION TO BE OFFERED
HATTIESBURG
-- The University of Southern Mississippi will offer a Seminar in
the Law of Arson Investigation August 11-15 on the Hattiesburg campus
in Room 249 of Harkins Hall. The intersession class is available
for noncredit, undergraduate credit or graduate credit, and will
be taught by Dr. Thomas Payne. For more information on the seminar,
please call (601) 266-4186. The Seminar in the Law of Arson Investigation
is being offered by Southern Miss Continuing Education and Distributed
Learning, in conjunction with the Southern Regional Public Safety
Institute.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAM TO BE OFERED IN MERIDIAN
MERIDIAN
-- The University of Southern Mississippi, in cooperation with
Mississippi State University (MSU) and Meridian Community College,
will be offered a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice designed
for students and professionals who are interested in the criminal
justice system and its functions, beginning fall 2003. The program
is ideal for crime scene investigators, sheriffs, constables, policemen,
undergraduate criminal justice students and highway patrolmen, and
will offered at MSU's Meridian campus. It is being coordinated by
Southern Miss Continuing Education and Distributed Learning (CEDL).

HOME
BUYER EDUCATION PROGRAM SET FOR AUG. 23
JACKSON
--Mississippi Home of Your Own (HOYO), an award-winning program
of the Institute for Disability Studies (IDS) located at The University
of Southern Mississippi, will sponsor a one-day home buyer education
workshop on Saturday, August 23, for residents with disabilities
in Hinds and surrounding counties. The workshop will be held from
9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Medgar Evers Library at 4215 Medgar Evers
Boulevard in Jackson. HOYO focuses on creating a support system
that identifies potential home buyers, analyzes their housing needs
and financial capacity and prepares them for home ownership. Applicants
of the HOYO program must attend home-buyer education to be considered
for financial assistance in purchasing a home. Call Amy Cooper at

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast. Final registration
for new undergraduate students is from 2-6 p.m., Aug. 13, at the
Gulf Park campus. Final registration for returning and new graduate
students is from 2-6 p.m., Aug. 14, at the Gulf Park campus. Fall
classes begin Aug. 18. Southern Miss Gulf Coast begins its second
year of offering freshman-and sophomore-level classes. For more
