The University of Southern Mississippi Army ROTC program will commission nine cadets Aug. 9 as second lieutenants in the United States Army. The commissioning ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the R. C. Cook University Union and is open to the public. Brig. Gen. James Pylant, assistant adjutant general of the Mississippi Army National Guard, will be the speaker. Including these nine cadets, the Southern Miss Army ROTC has commissioned a total of 20 lieutenants during 2003-04, making it the largest Army ROTC program in Mississippi. The new lieutenants are David Austin, Angela Barnes, Lee Greco, Charles Lingle, Heath Morgigno, Karensa Polk, Shane Seymour, Chuck Williams, and Corey Walters.
