University of Southern Mississippi’s College of Health has
named its 2005-2006 ambassadors.
The 19 students were selected based on academic
excellence and leadership skills. The students will participate
in recruitment and retention efforts as well as represent the college
at other events on and off campus. The names of the ambassadors
and their hometowns are listed below:
Bradley Barlow of Biloxi is a senior nutrition
and food systems major. Barlow, the son of Craig and Pam, is also
the treasurer of the Student Dietetic Association.
Danyella Berry of Pearl is a junior social
work major. Berry, the daughter of Willie and Mary, is a member
of AASO, Black Alliance, and the University Activities Council.
Julie Clemons of Deville, La., is a senior
deaf education major. She is a member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society,
Phi Eta Sigma, and the Baptist Student Union leadership team. She
is the daughter of Bob and Brenda Clemons.
Staci Cox of Brandon is a senior exercise science
major. She is also a Lucky Day scholar, cabinet chair of Lucky Day
executive team, historian of American Humanics, and a 2005 Golden
Eagle Welcome Weekend crew member. She is the daughter of Keith
and Amber Cox.
Shannon Davis of Brandon is a junior nursing
major. She is a member of Southern Style, Dixie Darlings, Lambda
Sigma, Gamma Rho Chi, Phi Mu sorority, and the Student Government
Association development and planning committee. Her parents are
Carlos and Hollie Davis.
Renisha Fontenot of Hattiesburg is a senior
therapeutic recreation major. She is a Luck Day scholar, a Golden
Eagle Welcome Weekend crew member, and is a member of Big Brother/Big
Sister, the African American Student Association, and the Recreations
Major Association. She is the daughter of Doris Fontenot.
Aimee Gros of Port Allen, La., is a junior
athletic training major. She is a resident assistant and is a member
of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, the Student Government Association,
and the Student Sports Medicine Association. Her parents are Michael
and Sheri Gros.
Shavaya Coletta Harlson of Port Allen, La.,
is a junior kinesiology major. She is a Lucky Day scholar, Lucky
Day mentor, Golden Eagle Welcome Weekend crew member, National Residence
Halls Chapter member, and National College Honors Society member.
Her parents are Philander Cole and Felicia Beard.
Kimberly Hetherington of Slidell, La., is a
junior speech pathology major. She is a member of the Speech Hearing
Association and the National Student Speech Language and Hearing
Association. Her parents are Ed and Rhonda Hetherington.
Arlecia L. Hudson of Canton is a senior social
work major. Hudson served as the 2004-2005 historian and community
service co-chair for S.P.E.E.D. and is a member of the Baptist Student
Union. She is the daughter of Joe Simpson and Linda Braun.
Monica L. Jordan of Brandon is a senior nursing
major. She is a member of Phi Mu sorority, Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society,
Student Nurses Association, and the Christian Nurses Association.
Her parents are Michael and Melissa Jordon.
Cecilia Lynn of Ocean Springs is a junior nursing
major. She is the daughter of Martha and Frank Lynn Jr.
Latessa B. Minor of Hattiesburg is a senior
community health science major. She is a Lucky Day scholar, Oseola
McCarty scholar, and Alumni scholar. She is also a member of Alpha
Kappa Alpha sorority, NAACP, Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Eta Sigma,
and Gamma Beta Phi. Her parents are Robert and Doris Minor.
Chelsea Newman of Pascagoula is a senior speech
pathology major. She serves as secretary of Chi Omega sorority and
is a member of the Order of Omega Greek Honor Society, Golden Key
Honor Society, and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. Her parents
are Rhett and Lynn Newman.
Donald Garret Rayborn of Natchez is a senior
exercise science major. He is the son of Gary and Lauren Rayborn.
Brittany Taylor of Gretna, La., is a junior
nutrition and dietetics major and is a member of the Honors College.
She is also a Leadership scholar, a Lucky Day mentor, and a member
of Gamma Beta Phi. Her parents are Ancil and Donna Taylor.
Lauren White of Gulfport is a junior nursing
major. She is a member of Chi Omega sorority, Gamma Beta Phi, the
University Activities Council and The Legacy. Her parents are Greg
and Sheila White.
Jamesia Wilson of Jackson is a senior social
work major. She is the president of Zeta Phi Beta sorority and is
a member of the Bachelor of Social Work Club and a member of S.P.E.E.D.
Her parents are Carl and Brenda Wilson.
Lauren Wozniak of Birmingham, Ala., is a sophomore
