HATTIESBURG – The University of Southern Mississippi's Counseling Psychology program in the Department of Psychology has been cited as one of the nation's best, according to two independent research studies, published in recent issues of The Counseling Psychologist journal.

The program was ranked 16th and 18th nationally in research productivity over a 10-year period by the two studies. Out of the 75 plus nationally accredited programs, graduates of the Southern Miss program ranked 17th in licensure examination scores, the examination needed to practice psychology independently in the U.S.

"We're very pleased with these rankings, given the national competition, which are evidence of the quality of our faculty and students," said Dr. Mark Leach, associate professor of psychology and director of training for the program.
