- Eleven University of Southern Mississippi students will
compete Saturday for the title of Miss Southern during the
2003 Miss Southern Scholarship Pageant on the Hattiesburg
of the event, to be held at the Manonni Performing Arts Center
at 7 p.m., will earn a chance to compete in the Miss Mississippi
Pageant in July. Admission is $7.
Kidd, the current Miss Southern, will be on hand to crown
the new Miss Southern. Jennifer Adcock of Hattiesburg, the
reigning Miss Mississippi, and Kelly Sanner will serve as
mistress and master of ceremonies for the pageant.
year's contestants include:
Parker of Laurel, a senior majoring in radio, television and
film with a minor in Spanish.
Marie Michelle Wehrman of Long Beach, a senior majoring in
Lee Gaston of Mendenhall, a freshman majoring in speech communication.
Lynn Duke of Pearl, a junior majoring in speech communication
with a minor in community health sciences.
"Mikki" Arender of Bolton, a freshman majoring in
Grey Pritchard of Hattiesburg, a senior majoring in radio,
television and film with a minor in French.
Jane Heidelberg of Laurel, a junior majoring in speech communication
with a minor in music.
Mercedez Casely-Hayford of West Point, a junior majoring in
H. McCleave of Vicksburg, a junior majoring in deaf education
Moon Johnson of Gulfport, a senior majoring in child and family
studies with a specialization area in family relations.
Hosey of Bay Springs, a graduate student in political science.
