HATTIESBURG – University of Southern Mississippi fraternities have donated $1,200 to 10 charitable and community service organizations in the Hattiesburg area from the proceeds of a golf tournament staged last fall.

The money – raised during the Interfraternity Council's Southern Miss Golf Classic Nov. 15 at Canebreak Golf Course – was distributed to Special Olympics, Hattiesburg Habitat for Humanity, Southern Pine Animal Shelter, Aldersgate Missions, Cystic Fibrosis, Salvation Army, Civitan Camp, Children's Miracle Network, American Heart Association and PUSH America.

Fraternities participating in the fund-raising effort included Alpha Tau Omega, Delta Tau Delta, Kappa Alpha, Kappa Sigma, Phi Kappa Tau, Pi Kappa Alpha, Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Chi, Sigma Nu and Sigma Phi Epsilon.
