SOUTHERN MISS GULF COAST OFFERS TEAM-BUILDING RETREATS FOR BUSINESSES, SCHOOL DISTRICTS, UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES

LONG BEACH - Through team-building retreats, The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Division of Continuing Education and the Gulf Park Conference Center are helping to meet the training needs of many organizations.

"We are seeing more and more organizations take advantage of our excellent training capabilities and our conference center facilities here in Long Beach," said Dayonne McGuire, director of the Southern Miss Gulf Coast Division of Continuing Education and the Gulf Park Conference Center. "Training is the key to maintaining your competitive edge in today's marketplace."

The training is conducted by experienced trainers and is typically held at the conference center in Long Beach or on location. The trainers have a proven record of working with leaders in all areas of the community including business, industry, universities, schools, and governmental agencies. The training is experience-based, using on-the-job situations, and is customized to meet the specific needs of an organization.

One local power company has seen the benefits of such training.

"The training we received from the Southern Miss Gulf Coast Division of Continuing Education was excellent and motivating," said Marilyn Sefton, manager of human resources for Coast Electric Power Association. "It enlightened our employees to the different styles of communicating among co-workers and supervisors, and it gave them the skills needed to make good management decisions."

Many of the training sessions include topics such as "Creating Leadership for Extraordinary Results"; "Effective Team Building"; "Developing Problem-Solving Skills"; "Improving Trust and Communication"; "Creating a Positive Work Climate"; "Conflict Resolution"; "Building and Maintaining Self-Confidence"; "Coaching for Continuous Improvement"; and "Planning for an Ideal Desired Future."

For more information on these training programs, contact McGuire at (228) 867-8778.
