HATTIESBURG – Robert
Toy McLaughlin, a certified financial planner of Birmingham, serves
a second term as president of the board of directors of The University
of Southern Mississippi Foundation in Hattiesburg, Miss.
McLaughlin, a licensed securities principal,
is president of Inverness Asset Management Inc. in Birmingham. He
is a native of Clarksdale, Miss., and is a 1962 Southern Miss graduate,
where he received a Bachelor of Science in business administration.
He is a graduate of The Endowment Institute of Harvard Business
School and has completed advanced courses in asset allocation, estate
planning, business continuation and retirement planning. He has
been involved in the financial services profession for more than
25 years. McLaughlin has served in many leadership capacities at
Southern Miss, including the Eagle Club and the Business Advisory
Council for the College of Business.
The USM Foundation operates under the direction
of a 39-member board of directors, who are all volunteers. Thirteen
new board members are selected each year, while 13 end their three-year
term. The USM Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation that
serves as a fiduciary of private funds donated to Southern Miss,
which is the only dual-campus university in the state, with an enrollment
of more than 16,000 students.
