HATTIESBURG
--
The University of Southern Mississippi's Lake Sehoy Park will kick
off the summer season in grand style by hosting the Fourth Annual
Mississippi Holiday Spectacular, a day of activities and entertainment
that includes a fireworks show over the lake.
"We are
honored and thrilled to be the host site of the Fourth Annual Mississippi
Holiday Spectacular," said Bill Powe, Lake Sehoy manager. "This
celebration is a highlight of our summer season. We invite community
members to celebrate with us and hope that they will keep us in
mind for other celebrations."
The Mississippi
Holiday Spectacular is an annual Fourth of July celebration and
will be held July 3, 2003, at Lake Sehoy Park. The gates will open
at 3 p.m. with musical entertainment beginning at 7 p.m. A spectacular
fireworks finale will take place over the lake during the evening's
festivities.
"We have
added a large stage to our park. It overlooks the lake and will
hold the orchestra for this particular event," stated Mike
Giles, associate director of recreational sports. "We envision
the stage being used for other musical events, dances and even candlelight
dinners."
Lake Sehoy's
summer hours are 3-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon to 8 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday. The use of Lake Sehoy Park is free for university
personnel. Non-university personnel pay a $5 fee that covers disc
golf, miniature golf, volleyball, basketball and fishing.
Lake Sehoy
Park is located on the corner of Classic Drive and Golf Course Road.
The park is open to all and is available for private parties.
