SOUTHERN MISS GRADUATE STUDENTS RECEIVE
GIFTED EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS

HATTIESBURG – Four University of Southern Mississippi graduate students in the Southern Miss Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Special Education have been awarded The Frances A. Karnes Endowed Scholarship.

Those receiving scholarships for 2005 are Ashley Patterson of Sumrall; Pola Jakacki of Naples, Fla.; and Jennifer Ishee and Malori Grasha of Laurel.

The tuition scholarships are $500 each for full-time students in graduate degree programs in special education with a gifted education emphasis during the summer session. Consideration is given to graduate students who seek preparation for teaching gifted students in specialized programs in elementary and secondary schools or for college and university positions in gifted education.
