HATTIESBURG – Four
University of Southern Mississippi graduate students in the Southern
Miss Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Special Education
have been awarded The Frances A. Karnes Endowed Scholarship.
Those receiving scholarships for 2005 are Ashley
Patterson of Sumrall; Pola Jakacki of Naples, Fla.; and Jennifer
Ishee and Malori Grasha of Laurel.
The tuition scholarships are $500 each for
full-time students in graduate degree programs in special education
with a gifted education emphasis during the summer session. Consideration
is given to graduate students who seek preparation for teaching
gifted students in specialized programs in elementary and secondary
schools or for college and university positions in gifted education.
