HATTIESBURG – The
University of Southern Mississippi will celebrate the 95th anniversary
of its founding Wednesday, March 30, with a variety of Founders'
Day festivities, set to begin at 2:30 p.m. on the north lawn of
the Aubrey K. Lucas Administration Building.
John Cox, the voice of the Golden Eagles, will make
a presentation on the history and future of Golden Eagles athletics,
followed by outgoing Student Government Association President Walt
Cain, who will reflect on his year in office.
The newly elected SGA officials will then be inaugurated
by the outgoing SGA attorney general. Students, faculty, staff and
friends of Southern Miss are encouraged to attend and to enjoy an
assortment of refreshments after the ceremony.
That evening, the second annual Official Ring Ceremony
will be held at the Shelby Freland Thames Polymer Science Research
Center Auditorium, where select students and alumni will receive
their Official Rings.
