Buras, a culinary arts student at The University of Southern Mississippi's
Culinary Arts Academy (CAA), has turned banana bread pudding into
gold.
Buras, of Gulfport,
was among gold medal winners during the Seventh Annual Culinary
Classic held at the Grand Casino's Bay View Hotel in Biloxi.
His banana
bread pudding with dark rum sauce earned him first place in the
student dessert category of the culinary competition.
"Patrick
is a hard worker and I am proud of him," said Chef Pam Lewis,
lead instructor at the CAA.
The Culinary
Classic is sponsored by the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter of the
American Culinary Federation (MGCACF). The competition was started
to showcase culinary talent in the Coast area. This year's event
helped raise money for the Humane Society of South Mississippi.
